Fernandez and Wells is a three-branched wonder of little cafes in Soho around Beak Street, specialising in fantastic coffee, cakes and enormous ciabatta sandwiches. It's a model which has been copiously imitated since the first F&W opened. It's a little bewildering on first visit with sandwiches apparently strewn across the counter and somewhat spartan furniture arrangement however, this only serves to highlight the key features of the place - food and coffee. They also do a mean fresh mint tea, and the pasteis de nata are to *die* for.

I absolutely adore Fernandez and Wells. With two branches just seconds away from each other you can choose between the chilled out coffee bar or a tapas and sandwich shop with a few seats outside.
The coffee is amongst the best I have had in London and the cakes are literally amazing! Try the millionaire shortbread, it's delicious. There are also wheat free cakes on offer too for those of you who don't eat wheat.
Fernandez and Wells are usually buzzing about between the two stores and two very lovely guys who are happy to stop and chat.
