The Box in Soho; overpriced sex show or decadent new club for the rich and beautiful?

For those of you who haven’t noticed the imposing, but
-
Walker's Court Soho
strangely inconspicuous, medieval style doors that have appeared on Soho’s
notorious Walker’s Court, or negotiated your way past a burgeoning queue of
skeletal, scarlet-lipped part time models and B (hmmm maybe C) list celebs, all
desperately vying to catch the eye of the decidedly selective doorperson and
secure entry to Soho’s latest sensation, The Box.
The Box has been open for over a month now and is proving to
be just as popular as its New York counterpart with names such as Prince Harry, Kate Moss, Emma Watson and
Keira Knightley all spotted at the new nightclub.
The brainchild of
Simon Hammerstein, grandson of famous lyricist Oscar Hammerstein, The Box has
been receiving mixed reviews from critics and revellers alike. Billed as a
‘Theatre of Varieties’, it could be argued that the description somewhat
downplays the decidedly adult nature of the establishment, but what else would
one expect from a club in Walker’s Court, in the heart of Soho?
One thing you would expect from a club in Soho of this nature, is of course,
the high prices. Tables are rumoured to be over a grand, whilst cocktails are
more on par with clubs of a similar ilk.
Now this is not a
review of The Box on my part, but rather an invitation to all you who have step
foot inside the place and to all those who would rather not. So with out
Perhaps one day I
may decide to brave the elements, stand in line and spend a sizable chunk of my
rent money to sip expensive cocktails whilst being regaled with ***** and bums!
Until then, I’ll stick with my fave, Madame Jojos! If you think I’m missing out, let me know!
Tell us what you make of The Box or any other Soho club you think is worth
checking out.
