How clean is our drinking water in Soho? Find out here!

Ever wondered how clean the water from your tap is when you fill
up a pan for your veggies or pour yourself a glass? Thames Water have reports on its water
quality for the UK and by simply adding your postcode, you can see how the
water purity fares against the rest of the UK.
By the looks of things, Soho doesn't come off too bad for its
water quality in the grand scheme of things. Thankfully there were no reports
of E. Coli, Enterococci or Coliform bacteria (all of which are nasty organisms
which are often found in faeces, yuck!) at levels which contravened the
prescribed concentration or value for Thames Water, which no doubt would make
Dr John Snow very happy! The only area which was a cause for concern was the
levels of Metaldehyde present in the samples, which were taken throughout
2009. Metaldehyde is often present in
pesticides and is often sold as a molluscicide (slug pellets to you and me!) and be toxic to humans in
large quantities. So it was rather worrying to read that there were "six
infringements to report for metaldehyde" despite the report concluding that the
"levels of metaldehyde detected were not harmful to health".
Overall, Thames Water claim that the Soho water supply is "very
good quality", but for many of you, bottled water is the only water you'll
drink, which has problems of its own, when you consider the environmental
implications of all that plastic wastage.
So are you happy to drink the water in Soho? And do you think
these reports are exhaustive enough? Whatever you think, let us know.

That may be, but surely it can't be a good thing as this site states;
"Metaldehyde is highly toxic by inhalation, moderately toxic by ingestion and slightly toxic by dermal absorption"

ReportMetaldahyde is not toxic to humans, it passes straight though with no degridation! It has to be reported upon because it is a pesticide and all pesticides are given the same PCV (PERMITED CONCENTRATION VALUE) irrespective of their effect.
