If the olympics inspired you to pull on those trainers have a goal to work towards - the new Bupa Westminster Mile.

The race is a new one-mile running event around London's St James's Park which is being delivered by the London Marathon in partnership with Westminster City Council.

There are categories for all ages and abilities so that everyone can take part.

The series of more than 50 one-mile races will be held on Sunday, May 26, starting on The Mall and finishing outside Buckingham Palace.

With the first race starting at 9.30am and the last at 3.30pm, the action throughout the day will be intense.

The Bupa Westminster Mile will also act as the official UK Road Mile Age Group Championship and sponsorship contracts from adidas will be awarded to the winners of the Junior and Senior races.

As a Paralympic legacy, races will also be held for Junior and Senior Wheelchair and Visually Impaired athletes.

The event begins on the iconic Mall, at the same start line Olympians and Paralympians used for the Marathon and Road Cycling events in 2012.

You will start off towards Admiralty Arch making a right turn into Horse Guards Road following the perimeter of the world famous St James' Park. You will pass in front of Horse Guards Parade used for centuries for state visits and trooping of the colour, after the Parade Ground you will continue behind Downing Street and the Cabinet War Rooms before making another right turn into Birdcage Walk.

When you make this turn you will be in the shadow of Big Ben, the second half of the race will take you past Wellington Barracks, one of the barracks used to house the Guards of Buckingham Palace. Once past here you will turn right into Spur Road where you will enter the home straight and a memorable finish in front of Buckingham Palace.
